The Mountains
If you have come to Lochaber for the mountains you are probably already well up on
local knowledge and have your own clear plans but there are outings for most abilities
and the options are limitless. From Glencaig Cottage Glen Coe, The Mamores, Grey
Corries, the extended Glen Spean ranges, Glen Shiel and beyond are within a one hour
drive. If your outing coincides with favourable weather (or even if it doesn’t) you
are likely to be rewarded with a memorable walk in some of Scotland’s finest mountains.
Preparation, appropriate equipment and planning according to your fitness level are
key to a successful day.
While the big Munros are the obvious lure the average walker
will be pleasantly surprised by the likes of the Glen Roy Corbetts, Sgurr and Cruach
Innis and even Binnien Shuas above Loch Laggan; small walks with big views.
